The Record Demands Rigor
UFO Encounter Files exists because the subject deserves serious journalism. We document, investigate, and archive — without sensationalism, without agenda.
Why This Work Matters
For decades, credible witnesses — military pilots, radar operators, law enforcement officers, and ordinary citizens — reported encounters that official channels dismissed or ignored. That changed. Congressional hearings, Pentagon disclosures, and declassified documents have confirmed what investigators long suspected: unexplained aerial phenomena are real, they are being tracked, and the full picture remains classified.
UFO Encounter Files was founded to build a permanent, searchable record of these events. We cross-reference witness testimony with official documentation, radar data, and investigative reporting. Every case in our database is sourced. Every claim is attributed. Where evidence is thin, we say so.
This is not entertainment. It is documentation.
How We Work
Source Attribution
Every factual claim is tied to a named source — a declassified document, a congressional record, a named witness, or a peer-reviewed study. Anonymous sourcing is used only when a witness faces documented risk and the account is corroborated independently.
Evidence Grading
Cases in our database are assigned an evidence level — High, Medium, or Low — based on the quality and quantity of corroborating documentation. We do not upgrade a case's rating based on notoriety alone.
Separation of Report and Interpretation
We distinguish between what was observed and what it might mean. Witness accounts are reported as accounts. Hypotheses are labeled as hypotheses. We do not present speculation as conclusion.
Corrections Policy
Errors are corrected promptly and transparently. Corrections are noted inline on the original article with a date stamp. We do not delete or silently alter published content.
Joshua Capilla
Founder & Lead Investigator
Joshua Capilla has spent years investigating unexplained aerial phenomena, compiling witness testimony, and cross-referencing declassified government records. His work spans the full arc of modern UFO investigation — from Cold War-era Project Blue Book files to the 2023 congressional testimony of David Grusch.
His book, Alien Encounters: The Harvest of Worlds, draws on that research to present a narrative account of the most compelling close encounter cases on record — intimate, personal, and grounded in documented evidence.
Capilla founded UFO Encounter Files to make that investigative work publicly accessible and to create a platform where credible witnesses can submit their own accounts for the permanent record.
